AP(R) Best Practices in World History
Note: Please be advised that this publication was created prior to the course revisions implemented in the 2011-12 academic year.
AP World History Best Practices presents scores of suggested classroom activities keyed to the AP World History Habits of Mind and Themes and to the details of course content. The first section includes discussions of each of the Habits of Mind, followed by one or two lessons that demonstrate the use of a best teaching practice. The second section provides multiple illustrations of each Theme and refers readers to relevant lessons to illustrate each Theme. The third section, Strategies for Teaching and Learning, proposes activities for the classroom that will enable students to become skilled analysts of world history. Covered are the use of notebooks, a guide for student oral presentations, using the Internet, interdisciplinary teaching, writing essays, and Change Analysis Charts. An appendix briefly defines 57 terms encountered in the study of world history.
